Quote (of sorts) for this week:
Formula for Success - does anyone know who said this? Definitely good advice!
- Fill your mind with truth
- Fill your life with service
- Fill your heart with love
We have just a little while before leaving for church; got down to Roseburg Friday evening and met with the Beckenhauers and with Jill Garvin at Gilbertos restaurant for dinner. Saturday we spent an hour or so at US Cellular and dad got his old phone re-connected up as the new one he had gotten about a month ago did nothing but frustrate him - particularly that he was never able to answer a call:(! So now he is much happier. We picked up Judy Jacobson at Callahan...she was really upset because she couldn’t find her “extra” money purse, but we went to Elmers for lunch anyway and had a good lunch. Then stopped by the duck pond at Fred Myer for awhile as she always enjoys that.
I thought I might have a picture of our Senior Saturday trip to the Clock Museum and our lunch...but they didn’t come...or if they did, I missed them:( I will try to remember to ask at the office tomorrow. The week at the office was busy as usual. We had fun celebrating birthdays over the phone...may call one of my kids and sing to you one of these days, just for fun:)!
And we bought cupcakes to share with anyone who came in the office on Valentine’s Day - they were yummy. Mary was great about calling her mom on her week away from Provo...letting me know of her safe arrivals and a little of how her week was going. I was glad she got to see Emily, even for just a short time. Tuesday evening we went to our second Tai Chi class; dad is really liking it:)
After struggling with the conflicting desires of my heart - wanting to go for Emily’s having her baby soon and wanting to fulfill my commitment to do my duties in the mission office, I finally spoke with Sister Terry - who would bear the brunt of my leaving - and after talking with her sent an e-mail to President Young to ask permission to go for the birth of Emily’s baby. He said go, so I now have tickets to fly to San Diego on the night of the 26th and will be able to stay with Eli when Em and Adam go to the hospital early on the 28th - the Big Day! In the meantime I am working really hard to get done as much ahead as I can to help relieve the load that I am leaving behind.
I am leaving in the middle of transfer week, departures and new arrivals - the arrival of 29 new missionaries - largest number ever for our mission and lots of preparation and work before and on that day; will also miss the Senior missionary conference and the day when I am supposed to have all the orders ready to go to the zone leaders - so I am really leaving a lot on the shoulders of those in the office on top of all the other stuff they have to do. Emily picked a good time for this baby:)! I get a nice vacation!
We’re headed home from Roseburg, ready to go to bed and start a new week...
We are glad you had a good visit in Roseburg :-) We are super excited for Adam, Emily and big brother Eli! What a blessing that you will be there to help! We love all of you!
