"...Be kind regarding human frailty—your own as well as that of those who serve with you in a Church led by volunteer, mortal men and women. Except in the case of His only perfect Begotten Son, imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with. That must be terribly frustrating to Him, but He deals with it. So should we."
Birthday Notes...Haven't changed since the last blog:)
Missionary Moments...We've been so busy just trying to keep up with the office stuff that I have to think hard to see if I remember things worth sharing. Lots of trying to get locations, addresses, phones, etc. tracked correctly and lots of work for Elder Terry setting up new apartments as our growth continues. This was our week for transfers, departures, and new arrivals...29 - always a lot of work, but always a special experience as well. Our APs are assigned to the ward we are in, Santa Clara 6th, and they were the main speakers today; they did an awesome job, as did the sisters who were the youth speakers. The Spirit was so strong and we were blessed to be there to partake of it.
Family Notes We heard from Mary on Monday; she had had a hard morning and was headed up to SLC to cut Melissa's hair (Christine, Ammon and Melissa were there for Ammon's medical appointment). Then she was headed to her trapeze class (despite the sprained ankle?) and then meeting with Sara + kids, Christi + kids and going somewhere fun...unfortunately I forget the exact name of it. I think they probably had a good time together.
Tuesday Dad and I felt like we did a GOOD job at our Tai Chi class...Yea for us!
Wednesday Jim, Jr. called Dad and shared his great happiness with his job after all the changes and upheavals; sounds like they have left him in full charge of what he is doing and he is liking that a LOT! Also he apparently sold a car and bought another one...but that is hardley news where he is concerned, is it:)? I wonder if he keeps a list of all the cars he has owned.... Sounds like Texas is bad shape for water, so maybe we should start praying now that there will be enough for all. I wonder how the farmers and ranchers are faring.
Wednesday, 10 April Charlotte posted on Facebook: Note: go find it yourself, or to see her creations, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6ACqyxQtU0&feature=share
“For those who have been curious about what I've been up to lately...this is it! :) I created all the art for this game (although a coworker sketched up the base designs for the ships/planes since my original designs kind of sucked, lol) and had a blast doing it. I'm sure I spent at least twice as long as I should have on every little thing since game art is entirely new to me, but it was a really awesome experience I'm glad I got to try!
(I also really really appreciate my AMAZING husband who put up with me ranting about flapper frames and misbehaving squidballoons and probably weirder things too while working on this. xD)”
I also heard from Charlotte that it looked like they were finally about to finish up on their refinancing! Yea and good job for all the hard work that took!!!
Thursday evening I went to Hangar (Orthotics) and was given a brace or AFO I think they are called that fit me - at least size wise. It is made of a lightweight, moldable, carbon fiber composite material, slips into the shoes easily and actually helps me walk almost normally. I tried wearing it in my brown shoes on Friday - not really expecting it to work because I was expecting to have to use shoes with laces to hold it to my foot well enough to work - but it worked really well. Driving home however I realized that a bone on the side of my foot really hurt and when I took everything off, the tightness of the shoe with the brace in it had really left that bone and another one on my toe quite inflamed and painful. So... decided to try the black shoes Saturday. Seemed kind of OK when I started out. We went to the office for a couple of hours so I could try to catch up a little, then left for the grocery store to pick up much needed groceries before meeting several other senior couples mid afternoon for a fun get-together and dinner afterwards. By the time I got out of the grocery store I knew I needed another pair of shoes as the black ones let my foot and the device slide up and down out of the shoe. So - we took the groceries home, went to the SAS shoe store (the owner of which is in the stake presidency and in our ward). He ended up taking care of me and found me a perfect pair of shoes - not lace up - and I felt like I walked out of there a new woman. They happened to be having a “coupon sale” which discounted the shoes quite a bit and that was appreciated. I am going to try to put pictures here - one of just me, one with my skirt lifted up a bit to show the brace, one of the shoe by itself with the brace in it, and one of the brace itself. I don’t know if anyone is really interested, but sometimes knowledge can then benefit someone else somehow.

Today (Sunday) I went to church and it was really nice to be able to walk around almost normally. Not sure if I mentioned earlier that we gave up on the Walk Aide because apparently with the way my nerves are configured, and with the amount of pressure that needs to be applied in order to have it work properly - which we WERE able to get it to do -my skin cannot survive the electrical impulses without deteriorating. I still have marks on my legs that hopefully will go away eventually, and it wasn’t even feeling too badly while I was wearing it. Just wasn’t meant to be for me I guess. Anyway, this new thing, is made by a company called Centri and it is called a Dynamic Walk Single Side. Pretty cool!
Well back to what I've heard from our kids... Talked with Christi Friday; she ended up staying in Utah for an extra day because of the weather...lots of snow in Wyoming with dangerous driving conditions. Because of the weather the meeting she was to attend in Casper (I think that was it) got canceled and instead was held by phones. She was disappointed in that, but it did allow her then to take Ammon to his medical evaluations in Cody or Billings... and it was interesting to note that both medical teams seemed to be totally in agreement with each other. Downside was that his orthodontist apparently did not have a good understanding of what lies ahead and did some things he should not have, so Christi is going to work on getting that communication going better. Upside is that Ammon took some kind of testing and was the first ever to do all of the questions...even through the college level. Now we are all excited to see how he did on them!
Talked with Mary briefly Saturday; she was busy cooking a salmon dinner with friends...unfortunately we could not join them:( Sounds like her work is going well; she said their big deal was nearly finalized which would be a huge plus for the company, plus there was another deal brewing for a large number of Sub Zeros in Texas... we’re hoping that one goes through for sure:)!
Dad and I are headed to Roseburg this coming Friday night and plan to meet with our rentors about the possibility of them buying the house. I am sure there will be nothing come of it right away, but it will be a beginning. We will stay through the weekend and go to church in the Melrose Ward. Love to all... I think that is about all for this blog:)!
