Thought to Share: 2 for this week - plus a few sidenotes:)
"Be certain that every decision you make, whether temporal or spiritual, is conditioned on what the Savior would have you do. When He is the center of your home, there is peace and serenity. There is a spirit of assurance that pervades the home, and it is felt by all who dwell there."
—Richard G. Scott, "For Peace at Home"
When I saw the first quote (Friday night) I thought that would be a very good one to share on the blog. When I saw the second one (Saturday) I decided I would add it also, along with the thought that I wished very much I had seen both of these early on in my church life and used them to decide what to do and what not to do with and for my children.
Our RS teacher opened her lesson with the first two paragraphs of the talk, and I want to close with them, with the prayer that we all can learn the truth in them, particularly me at a time in my life where I often feel the constant need to do and accomplish more with little opportunity to reset, regroup or reenergize!
"Many voices from the world in which we live tell us we should live at a frantic pace. There is always more to do and more to accomplish. Yet deep inside each of us is a need to have a place of refuge where peace and serenity prevail, a place where we can reset, regroup and reenergize to prepare for future pressures.
"The ideal place for that peace is within the walls of our own homes, where we have done all we can to make the Lord Jesus Christ the centerpiece."
TODAY IS JEANIE'S BIRTHDAY...and she is off somewhere in North Carolina! Hope everyone at least wishes her a happy birthday on Facebook!
Coming UP: Charlotte and Seth reach the 5 year mark on Thursday, the 27th! Congratulations and we hope it is a beautiful day for you:)!
Cousin Isis and her husband Devin have their 10th anniversary on July 2 - just over a week from now. If you want an address, let me know!
Notes from the week past...are short and few. We spent many of the days training the couples who will be working in the new mission office for Salem; they are a good group and will do well. We are just hoping we have done all we can to help them get off to a good start. This next week to ten days should let us know:)! Our "final" transfers are happening tomorrow, moving a few from the new Salem boundaries back within the Eugene boundaries and visa versa; we know the president has spent hours in prayer and fasting to make those final decisions - and we do not envy him. His son arrived home from his mission this past week and many of their family members came here to greet him. It was really nice for the family to have a brief time together, particularly in the midst of all these changes.
Family Notes: Besides Jeanie's birthday and the fact that their family has traveled to the east coast for their vacation, it was nice to hear from Christine, Emily and Mary this week. Christi and Ammon are on their way to Salt Lake City today where Ammon has a medical procedure tomorrow. I think the plan is to return home on Tuesday, but maybe sooner:). Also heard that the Bullingers have a new kitten - much adored by Melissa and Rebecca. They told me the name - and now, true to my new form, it has already gone out of my mind:(...
Mary traveled to a new store in Minnesota to deal with some difficult problems there; hopefully she was able to help solve those. She called me when she got back to SLC - so that was nice; it always makes a mom feel better to know where her children safely are - whether they are 5 or 50! (And even if their mom doesn't do a good job of remembering the details of the phone calls!) I didn't hear from John this week so hope he is still doing well, as I hope everyone is.
Guess I'll close this down for awhile and see if anything else comes to mind...well, nothing did. If anyone else has blogged, let me know:)! Have a great week!!!
