Thoughts for the week: ...good ones:)!
"All of us are responsible to provide for our families in both temporal and spiritual ways. To provide providently, we must practice the principles of provident living: joyfully living within our means, being content with what we have, avoiding excessive debt, and diligently saving and preparing for rainy-day emergencies." ...Robert D. Hales, "Becoming Provident Providers Temporally and Spiritually
Our Heavenly Father asks only that we do the best we can — that we work according to our full capacity, however great or small that may be."...Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Two Principles for Any Economy"
I wish so many resources had been available 25+ years ago when I was so desperately seeking to learn how truly live the gospel; perhaps then I could have done better. At any rate, I am so grateful for the words of the prophets and the guidance they give us...may we live by that guidance! I was particularly struck by the word "joyfully" in the first quote...as well as "however great or small" in the second one:).

| Now on to what's been going on... Mission Notes: This will probably be very short and sweet...it has been a very busy week, one that has left us pretty tired almost every night. Monday Dad helped with transfers, driving down to Medford and back plus a few sundry other places...we came home late and very tired. Ate TV dinners:). Tuesday wasn't quite so tiring in the office, but since our iPhones had come in we went to the Mac Store to pick them up, which Dad said would not take very long. 2+ hours later, we headed home again - but with our iPhones in hand. I wish I could say I was smarter because of all that I learned during that time...but I'm not. This is a very steep uphill learning curve for me. I sent my first text to Emily - and received my first Facetime message Wednesday morning - had fun saying good morning to Eli and Emily (didn't see Rose, but could hear her). That was a new experience. Wednesday night I worked on bills that should have been done Tuesday..kind of caught that up. Christi called and visited briefly with me; she'd been to parent-teacher conferences and read me a paper done by Melissa, entitled "Sandy." Made for fun listening - and yes, it was about me:). I got to talk with Chris for a few moments and was happy to hear they had had a good day for getting out into the fields. The weather has not been so cooperative for the farm work to get done. Missed a call from Jim Jr. - but saw it too late to respond. I am still working out the details of how this phone works. Thursday morning I got another Facetime call from Eli and Em:), and missed another call from Jim Jr. later in the day again:(. Worked really long and hard at the office because I had to get the supplies all into boxes for the zone leaders to pick up Friday. We left the office about 8:30 p.m.; Dad had helped me with the boxes and we only had 4 zones left to do Friday morning. Friday morning the office elders were in and they helped me finish the last 4 orders - it goes sooooo much faster with two helpers:)! Saturday night we met with the other senior couples from the office and Camp Alpine at Shari's for a dinner together. It was fun; with 2 new couples in the office and another new couple from Camp Alpine it was a good get-acquainted night. Saturday day was spent doing my "normal" things that I miss so often - like exercising:). Also went shopping for food, did laundry, etc. I did get a call from Charlotte on Saturday as they were in the LA airport waiting for their flight to New Zealand. I suggested they do Facebook posts during their trip - which she seemed to think would be a good idea. So we'll need to watch for them. Made a quick trip to Roseburg today to attend Stake Conference there; it was kind of a spur of the moment decision and I am glad we went; got to visit a little with various ward members I said this would be short and sweet - and it is...at least short. I am sure there is more I could write, but it escapes me at the moment and I've not connected with any family members today, excepting Em, who sent us a funny face text:)! |
