The Ides of March...

Yup! Our final moving day will be on the Ides of March...how about that?  Did anyone else ever take Latin and learn what the Ides of March was?

Just keeping on the blog for the record:

Special Days in March:

6th -  Holly's birthday...we wish her a very happy one:)!
9th - Henry Earl Burgis - Robin's youngest - 6 years old!
13th - Aunt Linda's birthday - anyone who could remember her with a card or phone call would be most appreciated by your mom:)!
16th - for those who remember Osiris, this is his birthday
16th - and for everyone, Melissa Anne Bullinger will be 11 years old!!!
22nd - guess who:)?  Emily Elizabeth of course!  I think these last two are very good ones to remember:)!

Spiritual Thought:  "Too often we tend to split the Lord’s work into parts that seem unrelated. Whether it is preaching the gospel to nonmembers, serving with new converts, reactivating less-active members, teaching and strengthening active members, or performing family history and temple work, the work really is indivisible. These efforts are not separate. They are all part of the work of salvation."    ....Russel M. Nelson  (bold print mine)   This is from his talk: "The Work of Salvation: Parable of a Father at Bedtime"

Mission Notes:  Today was our last Sunday in the Santa Clara 6th ward. Dad ended up driving to check on an investigator who was not at home when the ward member went to pick her up; he showed up in Sacrament meeting with her right beside him.  They arrived just as the sister missionaries began their talks. Their talks were wonderful; Sister Call spoke mostly on having a testimony of Joseph Smith and how that has impacted her life - it was a very good one - I learned much.  During part of her talk she spoke of growing up in a home without having priesthool authority or blessings there and of what a magnificent gift the priesthood is and how much she appreciates it. Again, it was a VERY good talk:)!

Sister Stirling spoke on the Book of Mormon, and included a story of her own life about a seminary teacher asking the class to make a promise to the Savior and write it in their individual scriptures, that they would read in the Book of Mormon every day from that day forward.  Then the teacher told them to NOT make that promise unless they would keep it.  She decided that of course she could make that promise and wrote it in her book,  then told us of how the next day was a very busy one (she was in high school with sports, etc. happening) and as she climbed into bed and almost fell asleep then remembered her promise.  She struggled, not wanting to get out of bed and not wanting to break her promise...then finally made a deal with the Lord, that she would get up and read one verse if He would make that verse something that would be a great help to her and she would follow its directions immediately and forever (my words, not hers, but you get the idea.)  The verse ended up being a little strange and she could not figure out what it meant; then ended up calling her sister into her room and the sister suggested reading the footnote...the end result of it all was that she DID come to an understanding of it and she DID and HAS read in the Book of Mormon every day since.  My thought was, that would be a good promise for ME to make to the Lord!  Both talks were wonderful and the Spirit was very strong.

Ward members have been very nice to us, including most of the high priests and their wives joining us at a Mongolian Grill last night for dinner together.  We enjoyed talking to everyone.  After church today we went to a baptism and visited with a couple sets of our missionaries there:). Got a tiny headstart on finding out who is moving tomorrow:).

Saturday was a working in the apartment day, then a baptism at 3 pm followed by the dinner mentioned above.

The work week was filled with enough work for all of us, but not overwhelming; Sister Christensen ended up going home quite early Wednesday because she was not feeling well - some kind of a stomach flu we think.  I sort of enjoyed taking back the desk and doing the things I have become accustomed to.  I think if we left now, she would be fine, but the person taking over the financial stuff is still having quite a bit of difficulty...hoping Dad will be able to help him move forward this week - altho Monday is transfers so the men will all be driving and Wednesday is Arrival day - so the office will be closed in the afternoon as we participate in the arrival stuff.  I am glad the date of our leaving has allowed us to be here for this week of changes and for the weeks just before, which have been such great learning experiences for both of us.

All of our missionaries now have and are using iPads (minis) and that seems to be working very well.  The referral secretary (used to be me) will be trained on Tuesday on changes in the referral system brought about by the iPads.  I am hoping to be able to hear and learn about it as well.  With Facebook and iPads I guess we are doing a good job of moving into the digital age...maybe?

I guess I should just close these mission notes trusting that the office is really in the Lord's care and that all will be well when we leave:)

Family Notes:

Goodness gracious, I am so very tired that I can hardly keep my eyes open.  I think I will not do a very good job of notes on family members right now.  I know we were greatly occupied with the moving stuff, taking the Motor Home down on Tuesday which worked well...just tired me out by the time we made it back.  Thursday Dad picked up a uHaul trailer and the elders came and helped him load most of our furniture into it - we kept our little dining table and chairs, the Lazy Boy and the glider chair, the CD/TV table, Dad's desk and our bed.  everything else is gone.  Oh yes, we kept the couch planning to take it over to Goodwill on a non-rainy day, but our neighbor came over yesterday and when she heard that and said gee, it is a really nice couch I asked if she wanted it and she said it would be in finitely better than what she had, so we ended up asking another neighbor to help dad carry it over.  I told her exactly how old it is, but she is very happy about it:).
This Saturday we will rent the trailer again and take the rest of the stuff down. When I close this blog I need to try to come up with detailed notes on what we need to do so that my tired brain won't have to think once we are trying to get it all done.

I know I had a good visit with Charlotte on the phone, which I loved and I am thinking others called, but would be hard pressed to figure out exactly who altogether.  I do know that Christi and Chris returned from the temple yesterday to find their basement flooding from ice jams blocking up the rivers and ditches.  Not a fun thing and gave them lots of work.  I also know that John was ordained an elder today and we are so happy to know that.  He and Christi are flying to Maryland on Wednesday and Micihael is leaving on Friday on a school trip to Washington DC.  Busy family - as all are:).  Christi did send a lot of picures early this week...I will try to put one here and maybe more later as I really do have to quit...so very tired.  Love to all!

Here is my picture effort - you can see there are great changes happening:)!
