Family Reunion Note

Hello again:)

As we prepared to leave Provo for home this morning we decided to go check out Heber and the campground that we have (we think) reservations for. Actually, since I have never received either an e-mail or written confirmation for the reservations, I sometimes kind of wonder about it, although on the phone I have been told that we are definitely reserved:) and we thought we would just go in and get a written confirmation plus check the place out. Well.... the good part is that we made it there and were able to talk to a person currently staying there; the bad part is that the manager(s) don't come in on Saturdays right now until about 12:30 p.m., which would have been way too long for us to wait.

What we DID find out is that the cabins are all quite new; probably put in in this past year. That is probably good. They looked small to me, but the person we talked to seemed to think they were fine. The down side is that the grounds don't have much in the way of grass and/or landscaping because they have been doing the construction we think. There are a lot of trees around, so I think that will soften the look of it a lot in the summer. (Right now they are all bare.) I am also thinking that there WILL be grass in the summer... but time will tell. They talk about grass on the website tho:) Dad was a little hesitant about it... do we really want to stay here? But as we talked about the goals - being out in a camp-y atmosphere, having outdoor places to gather & do things, like volleyball, fishing, etc., having enough beds for all, doing the Heber train thing... we decided that we should continue with our plan:)

Also, we now know exactly how to get there - from Provo, or SLC - because we drove up from Provo and then left by way of the route that takes one to SLC. It really isn't all that far either way and if we want to we can go up to Park City to visit. Dad was wondering if maybe in the summer they did some kind of tourist thing in place of the skiiing.... like some kind of wheeled sled down the mountains.... don't know if they do or don't, but you are all invited to do any research you would like. For right now, I am going to send a written letter asking for a written confirmation of the reservations... it would just make me feel better:) I have tried the e-mail thing and never have had a response. I will let you know what happens next....
