John Bullinger got his patriarchal blessing yesterday; that is wonderful. I remember when we got ours - in Germany, shortly before we left there to head back to the states and an unknown future. Dad (Grandpa to some) was being let out of the army because they had too many officers after cutting down the forces when the Viet Nam involvement ended... so we picked Arizona to go back to and then camped out in our Winnebago with some friends we had met in our little ward in Germany (They had gone home earlier...) until we found a little apartment. No furniture in the apartment... just our bodies and we slept on the floor I think:). The Lord was watching over us and we eventually found a house to buy and then a job - kind of backwards, but both were a blessing.
We were so new in the church we didn't really know much about patriarchal blessings, but now I wish we had. And I would have carried a copy of it with me as we left Germany and headed out into the unknown. They always say it means different things to you at different stages in your life and that is so clear to me now.
We had a man here yesterday who is from Georgia and his family will be moving here in June and it looks like we will may our house out to them while we are on our mission. He has a son in the MTC right now, plus a 16 and 13 year old - both sons - and a 10 year old daughter:). We ended up spending several hours together and by the time he left I went straight to fixing some food because we hadn't eaten all day.
