Hello family. Texas Oliphant family update
We are busy as usual, trying to keep up with everything plus baseball for DJ and T-Ball for Colin :-)
Taylor has moved to middle school (much to our fear) but is doing great as she has done in any new environment. Actually at the top of her class in Math currently. Caterpillar announced about a month ago we are taking over our facility here in Texas (was launched 2 yrs ago using another company to staff the facility). We are very busy completing the work necessary to smoothly move about 1200 employees on to CAT pay roll. With the announcement we have more CAT managers moving towards San Antonio and Jeanie has begun a CAT wives lunch. That brings up another great point, Tanner is growing up to and has begun a 2 day preschool program. That helps provide open time for Jeanie to participate in wives lunches. What a blessing. I've had a device called Walk Aide for the past 3 weeks and speechless concerning it's ability to help me walk "normally". I've been walking on our treadmill daily and can easily tell the impact it makes. I've lost any consideration about not walking somewhere or carrying something in fear I might fall. Crazy. A new lease on life. Being Sunday, I want to share a testimony from our Testimony meeting today.
We have a brother who is 65, has a strong family (youngest son is on a mission in Budapest), but was a convert long ago and lamented the rest of his family not joining. That included his mother, father, brother, and a sister. All of these family members have passed away over time and he's been waiting for years to proceed with completing their work in the temple. We do have a temple here in San Antonio and this past Wednesday he carried his prepared names to the temple under great anticipation of completing the work he had waited for years to do. He entered the temple and worked with the staff to do just that. He was asked to help about 5 young folks (weird being a school day) participate in baptisms by being the baptizer(?). As he did that, the workers asked what he wanted to do with his family names and chose to use the last 2 youth (male/female) and continue. He proceeded with tears (touching as he is a very manly man) as he baptized a young women for his mother and sister. He then moved on to his father and brother. As he had already done names with the young man, he new that the young man's last name was Johnson. His same last name. He had already been touched by that fact but was overwhelmed after finishing his brother and the young man informed him that his first name was James, the same as the brother he was just baptized for. Brother Johnson shared that he felt this was a sign that his brother had been waiting and accepted the baptism (he passed away 16 yrs ago). Wow.
We love you and hope everyone is having an enjoyable Sabbath Day.
Jim
