The scenery outside matches my blog picture, kind of:) Falling leaves and oranges and yellows all around us. The squirrels are busily putting away peanuts for the winter, but stopping to eat about every 3rd one. A lesson perhaps we should all heed.
Thought to Ponder: This one comes from an article in the most recent Ensign, Looking at My Mission Through New Eyes is the title on the magazine cover, but the title on the start page is How Can I Be a SUCCESSFUL Missionary?, which, if you have not read, I strongly suggest reading as there are a number of really good principles and truths in it which can help us in our everyday lives. The part I want to quote came from the companion to a very frustrated missionary: "We set goals to show our faith. We follow up on goals to count our blessings." In my opinion, the article could very well have been titled, "Looking at My Life Through New Eyes." Hope you enjoy it.
Upcoming: Cathie and Ed celebrate their 40th anniversary next Sunday - hope at least some of you will send them a card:)! 40 represents a goodly number of years!
Jocee Kirby will be 3 years old on October 23rd
Becca Bullinger will be 8 years old on October 25th
(but has to wait until Nov. 30th for her baptism - and we are planning to be there:)!!!
Charlotte Huyett has a birthday too: October 28th!
Family Notes: The Birthday surprise was wonderful and it was wonderful to see our natural born children for a couple of days:)! I sure missed all the remainder of the family though and hope we will be able to find a time to be all together this coming year!
Not too many other notes here because there has been a definite decrease in communication over the past few weeks. I thought it was because of the secrecy surrounding Dad's birthday, but can't use that as the reason now. Miss you all! A week without e-mails, phone calls, letters, Facebook posts leaves me kind of lonely.
I did manage to get hold of Christine, who sold one of her fancy pups and took the other 3 up to a pet shop in Billings. We hope they sell quickly:). Also hope the weather will not totally goof up their house remodeling!
I got hold of Jim on his way home from taking Taylor to a student council meeting in some other place; he also said that DJ had had a great day at baseball...all sounds well and busy with that family. Waiting for pictures of Colin's birthday:)!!!
I know from a Facebook post that Sara was headed to North Dakota, I think for wild mustangs? Hope the really bad weather did not hamper her trip. Saw a news article about South Dakota ranchers and thousands of lost (dead) livestock; prayers for them and their families.
I think Emily and Adam took the kids to Legoland....
Waiting to hear from Steve and Holly, Charlotte and Seth, and Mary. All are probably fine...???
Mission notes: Feels like we are finally back to "normal" after transfers/departures/arrivals that happened the week of Dad's birthday. We are planning a trip up towards Charlotte & Seth's to check out a mobility scooter called TravelScoot. Dad is pretty convinced it would be a great thing for me to have; I am still pondering. There is no doubt that it is finding great popularity...so we'll look forward to seeing and possibly purchasing one. Anyone interested can look it up on the web - just plug in travelscoot and you should probably be able to find it.
I'm not sure what is happening in other wards around the country, but the total focus of our ward's talks and lessons today focused on missionary work - may be all be doing it, starting with the prayers asking the Lord to put someone in our path!
Guess that's all...Love You, Mom O
