February Notes - 3

Wow - it is Monday (Feb. 23) and I have not written since Friday.  The choir practice was amazing as we were working with Michelle Soderberg, the person who wrote all the music and designed the program, Daughters of Our Heavenly Father.  At least I think that is what it was called.  I went home from our 3 hour Friday night practice with a great desire for Jim to be able to come to see it the next morning - but he was scheduled to attend a class on concealed weapons which he had waited for for months.  Saturday I was up early in order to be completely ready to go at 9; had my contribution to the luncheon ready (lime/cilantro/rice - Cafe Rio copycat) and my contribution for the service project (pillows and pillow cases) on the porch so as not to make the sisters late who were picking me up, and they arrived right on schedule.  We were all in our seats ready to practice ahead of the program at 9:15, which is what had been requested.  The Women’s Conference started at 10:00 - and I felt so sad for those who did not arrive on time because the program was so infinitely wonderful that every moment was so very special to me.  Words truly cannot express what was felt by everyone there.  As I sat with the choir (we only had 3 numbers - and there were many more, done as solos, trios, etc.) and was enveloped by the Spirit that accompanied the entire program, I desperately wished for a way to share it, in its entirety, with all of my daughters, daughters-in-law, and with our wards in Roseburg, Eugene, & Payson.  I made a small beginning at that by ordering CDs of the music; I know they will be good, but cannot possibly re-create the program itself - but found on her website a way for people to request the program - so am going to share that as well.  Such a beautiful program, developed by an inspired young woman somewhere in her thirties and based on the book Daughters in My Kingdom, despite the fact that she said, “I am not a songwriter” when those whisperings first came to her:).  I want and hope to do all I can to share it.

After the program and lunch on Saturday I came home and made the mistake (?) of lying down on the futon to rest for a bit as Jim was not yet home from his class.  I was awakened slightly when he came in, but fell back asleep and then was awakened at about 6:00 I think by a phone call from Sara who was on her way home from a horse show with all the kids.  They stopped by here on the way home and we had pizza; a fun visit and we planned to go down for dinner on  Sunday.  Maybe that is not such a good plan any more as we have to wait for Jim to be through with his duties at church as the financial clerk - and apparently they can take quite a while.  We get out of church at 2:00, and he didn’t finish until about 5:45.  Fast Sunday can apparently take considerably longer:).  So instead of us going down there, which seemed easier because then they wouldn’t have a long drive home on a night before school, maybe it would work better to have them come up here - at least we could eat at an earlier time:)!  Oh yes, I should have mentioned that we had Mary and Michael join us as well.  We got home about 10 and I was in bed not too long after, while Jim stayed up and watched a favorite TV show that he had recorded.

Just a note: Koda seems fully adapted to living here.  He goes outside for long periods, we usually put him in the back yard, especially when we are leaving to go somewhere, and he comes right into the garage when he hears we are home again:).  Have also let him out the front door, and he seems good with that.  I have no idea how near or far he has explored, but things seem OK.  We got him a collar, which he seems fine with, but need to get a tag to put on it with his name and our phone # I think.

I am excited that we have a plumber coming tomorrow I believe to change our plumbing so that the kitchen cold water will not be softened.  In researching I have learned a lot about the negative effects of drinking artificially softened water - and, surprisingly, of drinking water that has gone through the double or triple osmosis procedure [we have both] - and I will be a lot more comfortable after this is done.  He is also going to remove the triple osmosis filtering system and put an outside hose bib on the back wall of the house so we have a way of getting water out there.  We think maybe there might be one that is covered up by the deck...but maybe not, and there is no sign of one.  We think it is very handy to have access to outside water so are looking forward to that too:)!  Little things, but...

All is well here although progress seems slow...I have to remember that I am making beginnings on a LOT of things:)!
