More from San Diego - or Oceanside

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011

Well, seems like only two days, but it has been three. Dad really enjoyed talking to all his kids on his birthday (thank you for the calls)... I can’t remember much of what we did during the day but made his favorite birthday dinner (pork chops, rice, gravy, fried apples, asparagus, biscuits...with chocolate pudding cake for dessert) and he liked it a lot. I think he watched the beginning part of a set of DVDs that Charlotte & Seth gave him that night - Top Gear - and enjoyed that a lot. We are going to Medeival Times tomorrow night for dinner and ??? (I’m not sure)... that is his “birthday present” from me. (Something he has wanted to do)

Tuesday - seems like we worked on business stuff through much of the day but then met one of his old friends (Bob Cartwright) and his wife at a good seafood restuarant in the evening. Again, so much fun for him to see someone he hasn’t seen in the past 45 years or more; they had a great time talking and it was a very interesting evening. It has been really interesting to see the different directions that people’s lives have taken since high school/college and how it has worked out.

Today (Wednesday) - went with Emily to a good breakfast place nearby (too much food!) - then worked on miscellaneous things through the day. Went out with Emily after Eli woke up from his nap and drove around some different areas looking at homes. Came home and made up a quick meal, then she went to a baby shower and Adam went to a baseball game after putting Eli down for the night. Dad and I are responsible for watching the moniter and if anything goes wrong (like he cries...for more than a few minutes) calling one of them:)! I think we can handle that. Actually am way too tired altho I cannot possibly say why.

We have heard that Steve is working at a Toyota dealership selling cars and Holly might have some substitute teaching opportunities this week - good news from Georgia! Looks like Sara and Patrick may have a deal worked out on the home they would like to buy - which would be good news from Utah! Mary Elizabeth has a new phone - more good news from Utah! Seems like things are going well in Texas, Wyoming and California - Christine has been having fun(?) re-organizing the soccer program in their area and doing a great job of it. Sad news is that Charlotte & Seth’s car was broken into and the old laptop & GPS stolen...sorry to hear of that.

I will see if I can put tomorrow on here tomorrow - & not wait days again! Love to all!
