Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 Where has the month (year) gone????
When I finally got down here (living level + kitchen) and opened the computer it was interesting to see that Roseburg, Allyn (WA), and Burlington(WY) were all within a degree or so of each other in temperature (62,61 & 60° respectively. Oceanside is at 70 and Garden Ridge, Texas at 84. How about that.
Last night we went to Medieval Times - for dinner and a program which features knights on horses fighting with each other. (Actually more to it than that, but I won’t go into details here) One of the horses was particularly amazing - a Lippizaner doing all the fancy tricks. I felt bad because I knew that most of the audience had no idea of the work that goes into training a horse to do all those things. Anyway we had fun; it was quite an evening.
Today Dad took me for a drive to Julian for a piece of apple pie. (Emily’s suggestion.) It is about an hour from here, eastward into the “back country.” We found the Julian Pie Company without any trouble, but had a hard time finding a parking space... there were a lot of people wandering the streets of that little town! We decided to share a sandwich before eating our pie - apple of course, because that is what they are famous for - and brought some pie home (at Emily’s request) for all to share. Then Dad decided we should drive out to Warner Springs, a place where his family vacationed when he was young - with cabins, a community room with games, swimming, horseback riding and more - apparently it has changed a lot because now you can’t just drive in - has a high fence & locked gates all around it - but we were able to see one of the “cabins” they stayed in and could drive around the whole place. Then we headed towards Oceanside - took another hour or two to get here. Hmmm. We were supposed to go to a movie tonight, but the babysitter canceled so I’m not sure if we’re going to do anything now. Maybe just visit a little:). Signing off... Love you all!
