February 21, 2012 Mission Update:) & a few pictures

Hello to all...

We got up quite early this morning and got ready to leave for Eugene so that we could make our 10:00 a.m. appointment with the property manager to see the inside of the apartment for which we put down the holding deposit and signed the papers for last week. Dad had called yesterday to confirm the appointment and we had our camera with us so that we could take pictures & send them on to you.

Just before going out the door I went back to the "office" to get the laptop; started closing down the couple of things that need to be closed in order to disconnect everything and as I was doing that an e-mail popped up from the property manager we were to meet saying that he was sorry but the appointment today would not work out, that the people had called him in the evening to let him know that it would not work for them but would need to be later. His e-mail was sent out to us at 11:58 p.m. last night. If I had not happened to see it as I was closing down the computer we would have been on our way without knowing anything. Then, around 9:15 we got a call on the house phone from the office giving us the same information - which again, would not have reached us at all if we had been on our way. My confidence is this company or office is not very great - but I am hoping that since we have a signed contract and have put down money that nothing will end up going wrong with the final outcome:). Now we are hoping to see the inside of the apartment on Thursday, March 1st, before picking up Emily and Eli at the airport in Eugene:) (And will hope to get pictures then too!)

We did go to the mission office today; were to be there at 11 but got there nearly a half hour early. They put us to work - Dad with Elder Cox working on the housing stuff and me with Sister Cox inputting baptism information into the computer system to go to Salt Lake City. At 1 p.m we all went to the mission home - which is not terribly far from the office - to greet the new group of Elders coming into the mission. We set up some stuff for lunch and waited for them to arrive; they were an hour late...but that was fine. It was quite an experience - all of it interesting and the last part especially filled with the Spirit as President Young formed the companionships. We had gotten to watch a little of their role playing as they were waiting for the president to finish interviewing the individual missionaries - that was filled with the Spirit as well. Made me very happy to be a future part of all of it. Now...if we can just get past the MOVING thing....

We gp up again tomorrow and will do more in the office. President Young and his wife will be taking the departing Elders to the temple in Portland and then will spend the evening with them and will see them off on their early flight out Thursday morning. Looks like the next couple of years will be full of learning - and of wonderful stories if today is any example. Thank you all for your support for our effort to do this:).

I am hoping to attach some pictures of at least the condition of the house & my downstairs Homeschool Materials sale (which is Thursday, Friday and Saturday) - I am typing as we are driving back to Roseburg and will try to get the pictures from the camera attached later tonight.

OK - now I have the pictures in iPhoto...the problem is, how many should I attach...how about just a few. Here they are:
First, from our long ago snow storm, the sun coming out and melting the snow:
Then...back into sun and views from the living room:
