Hello all from Illinois~
Here is my first blog, ever. We will see if I can get this posted and if I will come on again.
I thought I would tell you and maybe show(if I can figure it out) some pictures of our summer.
We have been very busy this summer, we bought a pop up tent trailer and we are trying to spend time together as a family, camping. Sometimes I think we were crazy and others I love it!
My sister came for a visit in their motor home and stayed 7 weeks. We all enjoyed them being here and the kids enjoyed going amping in Aunt Tracy and Uncle Jack's "house". My Grandpa and Uncle came the last week she was here and we had an interesting time with all. Jim took the guys on a tour of Cat and they thought it was so COOL.
Taylor went to girl scout camp for 3 days and while she was scared when I dropped her off, she didn't want to come home when we went to pick her up.
We then took a trip to Hershey PA and camped for a week, very trying and way to overloaded with activities. We had fun though and the kids didn't want to pack up and leave. We toured the UTZ potato chip Factory, ate Lunch on the Gettysburg Battlefield, went to Hershey park and ended up in Washington DC. While there we went to the Marine Corp Museum, which we think is the best Museum in DC, we highly recommend it.
We participated in our ward's campout, we were the only one not in a tent, but we had fun and I even made scrambled eggs and peppered bacon for breakfast. We then decided its a little much to do all the prep work, set up and tear down for just one night.
I flew back to Oregon for my niece, Brandlyn's wedding and thou it was exhausting, and I still think my sister owes me big, I am glad I was able to go.
We took a short trip to MO to go to 6 flags just before school started. DJ and Taylor participated in a math-a-thon and won free entry tickets, so I didn't want those to go to waste. I think we all enjoyed it, but it would have been nicer if we hadn't been in such a hurry. We had to get back so that Taylor could go to her first Cheerleading practice and DJ could go to his first flag football practice. We made it but were a little late.
Taylor and DJ started school the 18 of August and Colin misses having them around all day.
DJ's Team won there first game and DJ got 3 flags, YEAH! He is having fun and learning a lot.
We went to Rock Island, IL for Labor day weekend and camped. We walked over the Mississippi, watched a Go-Cart Grand Prix, made s'mores and played mini golf. Not to mention we rented a canoe and paddle boat, CRAZY us. Taylor was scared of the canoe tipping and Colin was on the paddle boat with me and he kept yanking on the stirring knob and we kept going in circles.
We rushed back and Taylor cheered for her first game, she missed three while we were gone. She had fun and she loves doing the stunting, she is her squad's "flier" which means she gets thrown in the air for the stunts. This is one time we wish she wasn't so petite.
I am busy, busy, busy. I was just installed for my second term as President of the Newcomers Club, I am also the Football team mom, Brownie troop leader, Visiting teaching supervisor and Activity Day's Leader for our 8 & 9 year olds. my days are slow and night are super busy. I have to learn to say NO!
Jim is working hard still at CAT and thankful to have his job. He is still the High Priest group leader and enjoys coordinating our temple trips, sometimes people make it difficult, but having new converts go do baptisms is a true blessing for ALL!
We love you all and hope this actually posts!
Love Jeanie
