Tuesday, June 17th Waking up to the sound of the birds singing in our valley is so nice...and Oregon is so beautiful, sometimes it just takes my breath away.
Thursday...rocking in my Lazy Boy with Koda in my lap...reminds me of the comfort rocking my sweet babies gave me when distressed. Not quite the same with Koda...but somewhat similar:).
Friday June 20 Life is not fair; and sometimes the not fair is harder to take than at others. Finally got home and could start my wash; at the end of the first load, as I went to put it all in the dryer, I discovered that the clothes were still dripping wet. Turns out our washer that worked so well in Eugene now doesn’t work and Dad took my old one to the dump 2 days ago. He spent most of the evening ('til 11 pm or so) working on the one here, but finally had to give up and right now we don’t have a plan. I think I need a plan. For how to get a washer.
Sunday, June 22nd Yesterday we went up to Eugene to get a part for the MH, some shoes for dad, and to visit our “old ward” for a great “Community Family Night” at the ward building. It was the brainchild of one of our missionaries and included all the wards in the Santa Clara Stake plus a couple of other churches who had been invited to participate. Lots of people - Lots of missionaries (that was so very fun to be able to see so many in one place!) - lots of good food and lots of fun activities and games. What a great idea - and I was so glad we went:)!
This afternoon we met with our neighbors, Monte and Christy Bryon, and talked about their latest offer on their house. They actually have a signed contract with a possession date of August 4th, but there are a number of contingencies that can affect that. They are going to talk to their loan people and to their realtor tomorrow to see if they can come up with a somewhat reliable timetable for all of us to work off. Since we are only here for a little less than 3 weeks now it does complicate things somewhat, but we all remain committed to being able to work something out that works for both of us. If this goes through it will make me very glad that so many of you are able to come for this visit on the 4th:)! (Maybe we can put you to work moving things for us on the 5th if it comes to that:)!
I think that is all...it was wonderful to be back at church today and visit with old friends again. I was given a calling - which I accepted for the next 2 weeks - of being the “Greeter” for the SS class. I get to greet people, call the class together, call on someone for the prayers and turn it all over to the instructor:). First calling in 2 1/2 years:). Not counting the call to serve in the mission office:).
I have decided that visiting everyone may not be such a good idea...it just makes me want to know even more what is happening in your homes and lives and then when I don’t get calls or e-mails it makes me sad. Any suggestions?
Love to all, Mom O
