October 7th... Well the rain waited until after soccer practice yesterday but its rained all night. This morning as I got up I could hear the toliet making its bubble noises but a little different in sound. Shortly thereafter the shower, toliet and even the sink were backing up with sewage - faster than Chris and I could find buckets and towels. So we've managed to flood the bathroom and storage room again with sewage and it STINKS - both literally and figuratively. We will have to cut more drywall out and I don't think we will ever get the baseboard finished. I am so discouraged by all our basement floods. We've got things down to a slow leak but won't be able to fix whatever happened to the leach field until the rain stops and the draw/feedlot drain back out. Its suppose to keep raining all day. And at some point the flooding in the draw should get worse when all the rain from the hills its. I am out of towels and can't even run water to wash hands after playing in all the sludge. Not a happy start to the day. Hope yours is better.
October 10th... You are always welcome to share... and we love to hear what others are up to as well. I forgot to tell you that they changed the relief society presidency Sun. For a few months now I have been told that they were going to redo the R.S. and then I'd be released as secretary and just have my primary calling - they changed how they did sharing time this summer and so the lesson time was during RS making it really hard to do both callings - missed a lot of RS. So, when the past president told me at the funeral that we were being released I thought great - I don't have to do the newsletter and invitations for an upcoming activity - great timing. About 10 minutes later I found out that I am now a 1st counselor in the new presidency - so yes I did do the newsletter late Saturday afterall and finished the invitations this morning. They also said they were changing some other things and thought they had the primary covered so I didn't have to prepare a primary lesson for Sunday. Wrong - they didn't release me Sunday and I didn't have a lesson... oh well. I had really been looking forward to doing just primary but RS will be good as well. The sad part is we don't have a secretary and won't for a long time according to the bishop (maybe never?) so I get to keep doing those duties as well I guess. Still waiting to hear from Varney (the clean up people for the sewage backup problem...) if they are coming back today to clean - moved most things out from the storage room into the living room downstairs so I was hoping they'd be here. Also waiting to hear who the adjuster will be - have questions for them as well. Thurs and Friday I will be in New Castle (where ever that is) for an early intervention council meeting. And today is the last day of soccer - yeah! Cancelled tomorrow because of the school nurse funeral at the same time. Also, Chris' grandma (Mom's mom) fell and broke her hip (Friday I think) and isn't doing well. Can't do surgery so she's on lots of morphine and not expected to live much longer. Nancy has been spending time in Lovell with her but it sounds like they really don't want other visitors at this time. Love you both lots! Christine
Note (a later e-mail): Chris said his Grandma passed away last night.
(a later e-mail) Oh, Chris gets to speak at stake conference in 2 weeks. That will be fun for me... more stress for him!
From Mom: haven't had any more e-mails from Christine; she is super busy I think. Here is Emily's from today:
10/20 Thanks! I hosted my book club meeting last night. It was SO great! I stuck with The Great Gatsby. In the book they are always having fancy parties at Gatsby’s house (out on his patios) so I hosted a “fancy party” on our roof deck. I put white Christmas lights up the stair case and I used the crystal lamp and pretty white vase that I got from grandma/grandpa. I made a 1920’s music station on my Pandora account and put my phone into the speaker doc. We had a bunch of fancy Hors d'oeuvre for food and I even found a tiny jar of cheap caviar (if there is such a thing). Just a note, cheap caviar is DISGUSTING (literally the worst thing I have ever tried). I was super happy with how it went! I love having people over but I’ve never been good at being fancy!
