Treasure Valley Update

Tuesday Thoughts (10/11/11)

Getting dressed after my shower I don’t remember exactly the thought that came to my mind, but it was an “I wish...” thought. Then I was drawn back to the thought I had recently as I was dwelling on the house we had seen, “Daughter, you will not be given every thing you want.” Then, with pangs of regret I asked, “Father, why, when I have been given so much do I find myself wanting more? Then came the thought perhaps it is because as we are given the things we desire we are inspired (by the adversary?) to want more; the more we have - the more we want. And then, the prayer, “Father please bless me to want less, to give more and to serve more, I ask, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

10/16/11 Sunday

Went to bed, unable to sleep, and then remembered I had not posted a blog - which I desire to do each week...so I am up, and, hopefully, blogging:). Monday (Columbus Day) we visited the sale at Macy’s and bought Dad a new suit... actually two new suit coats and a pair of suit pants. I think the other one is at least twenty years old... don’t remember exactly when we got it, but it is wearing awfully thin right now. We had to order one of the coats because they didn’t have it in the size he needed and it came Friday (yea!) and he got to wear it today. Looks good:). Of course Dad always looks good. I had ordered some blue sweaters from Land’s End a couple of weeks ago then had to return them for a different size; they arrived Saturday and I got to wear them today with my blue flowered skirt - that looked good too:)! Unfortunately we were attending different wards today so we didn’t look good together; oh well.

Thursday we went to the temple; it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it immensely. Picked up a Subway sandwich to share and a movie to watch (Rudy-which Brother Hall used a clip from to introduce the Gospel Doctrine lesson last Sunday) when we got home. It was a really nice day. Throughout this week I have been constantly impressed with how beautiful Oregon is and how blessed we have been to live in this heaven for the past 34 years. Wow. The weather kind of warmed up and cleared and Dad spent Friday and Saturday working on burn piles. He finally gave up on burning all the limbs that had been trimmed in the orchard by the elders quorum earlier this year for us (they have refused to dry out enough to burn despite his best efforts) and started loading them in the truck and taking them to the dump. I think he is at 4 truckloads so far and has about that many more to go. He is feeling good about getting these things done; it is nice that there is actually time to work on things. I don’t seem to be getting a lot done on MY list of things to do - but I AM following through with all the Physical Therapy & gym stuff. Takes more time than I really want to spend with it, but I am operating on the theory that it is what is good for me and I need to do it. Hard to think that my whole surgery thing was just over 6 months ago - I think I am doing really well. I sent my surgeon a thank you note; I was surprised, but happy, to receive a note back. I have so many “thank-yous” I want to send, but am not getting those done either.

I had a couple of lengthy e-mails from Christi detailing some of the challenges in their lives and thought I might copy and post them so all would know more of what is happening in Wyoming - but haven’t done that yet. Sounds like Sara & Patrick are physically moved in to their new home and arena and will be operating there from now on. Will have to update the address records soon; we hope that it all works out very well for them and that they truly enjoy their new surroundings & home! I was told that Abby was VERY impressed that they have a washing machine in their house - and that it does not take quarters - and thrilled with the thought that she can wash her dress (es?) any time they want:). Josie will be a year old next Sunday; Eli already did that, and Tanner won’t be far behind. Has it been a year since I did all my “new baby” trips??? Time really does go by so quickly.

NEWS FLASH: We have the house confirmed for the Reunion next July; have sent in the deposit and the contract. I think it will be a perfect place to gather and give us a lot of flexibility; so very glad that Charlotte found it for us. If you haven’t checked it out on the web, I hope you will:)!
