Home Again!

Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011

Made it to Roseburg about 2:30 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday) - a fairly quick trip from Corning, California where we had spent the night:). Stopped at the credit union & Wells Fargo, then to Sherm's for milk and bananas (our staples:)! Then home to unpack and greet the animals. Everything survived well in our absence; the person taking care of chickens and plants did so much better a job this time - no dead/dying things greeting me as I came to the front door!

Besides unpacking, Dad started filing paperwork from before we left...back to the normal drill I guess. In the evening we went to the YSA meetings - both of which were very good and hopefully accomplished a lot. This Saturday we have the multi-stake "Hootenanny" here in Roseburg (a first). We are hoping that all turns out well - for everyone involved! So good to sleep in our own bed again - we are really very fond of it:).

Koda was not in sight anywhere, though dad told me later that he was at the barn. He never came up last night and I thought perhaps he had decided to be a barn kitty; I asked Dad to bring him up this morning, in arms if need be, so that I could see him. As it turned out, he followed Dad up this morning - slowly - and has joined us in the house. He has mostly stayed in the same room with me so far, wherever I go.

Duane Stevens - the son of Glenna Stevens and owner of Gold Fantasy jewelry store, for those of you who might remember - died last Saturday night after a long battle with cancer. His funeral is on Saturday at 11 so we will go to that before going over to the church to help prepare for the Hootenanny.
