OK... Here is a New Family Plan: By putting our $1000 towards both the compound and the train excursion and asking others to pay what they have indicated they are able towards the compound plus $15 per adult (12 and up) and $5 per child (3 to 11) towards the train excursion, the numbers work out almost perfectly. The only hitch will be if Charlotte and Seth end up not being able to come.... in which case I would ask any of you who are able to kick in an extra $10 or so to help me out. [Thanks:)!]
I will send an e-mail to each one of you letting you know what your part will be; please e-mail me back RIGHT AWAY if you feel you cannot do that!!!
The only other camp expense would be to bring food to make the meals; the meal plan will need to be adjusted to the shorter schedule. We should be able to have a lot of fun with outside games and inside games, and indoor activities for the time we are there at no additional cost. Since we will really have only one full day together, I would really like to spend it in a very relaxed way enjoying each other's company and ending with the train ride thing. Obviously, others may have different desires.... Holly came up with some fun ideas for things to do in case we ended up in motels... here are some of the ideas for you to think about; perhaps something for Friday for those who arrive early enough? I think once the plan of WHERE is settled, it would be nice to hear from all of you on what you would most like to do:)!
If you are OK with all of this, could you please send me half of the money that is your part now, and the other half the first of July? That would help us to go ahead and pay for what needs to be paid right away and make sure we had the needed money there. Thank you,
Love you all, Mom O.
OOOPS... I forgot to paste in Holly's ideas... here they are: First, there is a dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. (This isn't my first choice of activities, but it's an idea.) Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children ages 3-12. The ticket price includes a 30 minute movie and then unlimited time to walk through the museum. Steve and I have been once. It was pretty fun. The younger kids (Payton, Abby, Becca) might get restless, but the other kids I think would be entertained for a bit. But, it is of course, in the end, still a museum.
ReplyDeleteSecond, (This one sounds fun to me! I'd rather do this than the museum. :) ) they are opening a new waterpark next week in Draper called Cowabunga Bay (cowabungabay.com). There are slides for adults/kids to go down, a "lazy river" to just float, etc. They have an option for a "group sales" price if we have 20+ people to our group.. I don't know if that includes kids. If we do not do a group price, then tickets are:
4 hours
48" and over = $15.99
Under 48" = $9.99
Full Day
48" and over = 21.99
Under 48" = 15.99
Children under 3 are free.
Seven Peaks waterpark is in Provo if we wanted something closer. Prices are similar but you have to pay for parking, where Cowabunga you don't. But staying in Provo for the waterpark might be better because driving around in wet clothes is never fun, so going "home" to change would be a lot easier.. if everyone was staying in Provo.
Third, we have a great park right by our apartment that has a pavilion, grassy field, etc, and some picturesque scenery for perhaps a family photo?? It is also a farm, where you can pet animals and feed ducks, etc. Could be good for a picnic or bbq! We can do frisbee or croquet or soccer or whatever! :)
Fourth, I think it would be a lot of fun to go into the canyons and have a bonfire one night and have either foil dinners or hot dogs and smores... There are lots of places to do stuff like that.
Staying in Heber sounds good to us. I think renting the compound will make it easier to be together most of the time. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for working so hard on this, Mom!
